The Wildcats faced an old Pac-VI foe in the first round of the playoffs. The Northern Knights, 7-5 on the season, made their first ever playoff appearance on Friday night against a focused and determined Wildcat team. Playing on tough footing, the result of heavy rains, both teams had problems with traction; however, the Wildcats had not problem finding the back of the nets.
On an emotional night for the 10 East seniors, the Wildcats concluded the 2011 regular-season campaign with a 13-1 victory over the Millbrook Wildcats. After concluding the senior player recognition ceremony, the Wildcat faithful were treated to a bagpipe rendition of “God Bless America.”
On Thursday night, the Cats finally figured out how to win a game in overtime. So far, the two Wildcat losses have come in overtime and double overtime respectively. The highly ranked Hoggard Vikings came into the game with only one blemish on their record. Both teams knew this game would serve as a good barometer for pressures to be exerted in the upcoming playoff rounds.
